Huawei MateBook 13 – Compact Laptop With Good Performance
The first thing you notice when you meet the Huawei MateBook 13 is how light it is. With a backlit screen and a good touch-pad, this portable computing device has less weight than some of its competition. It is thin, lightweight, and easy to handle, and is not heavy at all.
While its size is impressive, it’s also a highly capable device. With a large screen and many ports, you can connect to your home network via a USB port, Ethernet, VGA, and even an SD card.
The backlit keyboard takes up a comfortable place for your fingertips and is well built to prevent chipping or cracking. If you have a secondhand PC with the same hardware, you will have a chance to use the operating system that it came with, but that’s not a necessity if you have a newer model.
If the glossy finish of the hinge is still not your thing, there is an attractive silver finish that fits the sleek design. The subtle contrast between the beige, silver and black colors is rich and is pleasing to the eye.
While the PCI processor power and memory are powerful, they aren’t the most efficient. You should check out the benchmarks before buying any device. It is possible to upgrade to a later model without too much expense or trouble.
If you like the large display, and the wireless connectivity, this model of the laptop could be for you. Just don’t expect the battery life to rival that of other laptops, but you will get more for your money in the long run.
Wear and tear isn’t something to be afraid of. There is a fair amount of dust, so you might need to be careful about your belongings. But after being around laptops for a while, I’ve found that dust tends to bead off pretty easily.
Battery life is impressive, especially for the size. One hour and fifty minutes of battery life is good enough for most people, but you should double-check the specs to make sure.
Other features include a headphone jack, USB, and a small SD card slot, as well as built-in external speakers. While these are nice, the built-in speakers can often suffer from distortion.
Easy and simple access to the internet is another plus. There are not too many ports here, so while I like the included USB, Ethernet, and headphone jacks, the lack of an SD card slot could be a deal-breaker for some.
A great accessory that might make you want to buy this model is a detachable keyboard cover. This could be a great way to take care of any typing problems you may have.
A multi-touch trackpad is a welcome addition, but you will have to buy an extra mouse for this to work. The USB ports aren’t too fast, so you might want to get a USB 2.0 mouse if your network is reliable enough to send this fast.
